Mojo Monday # 67

Well the Christmas season is wrapping up and now to survive New Years. I've been having a hard time getting off my butt to do any card challenges, make any cards or even plan a card night!! But this week I'm working evening shifts so I can actually use my late nights to whip up a card or two. And what better thing to do when lacking inspiration than to participate in a challenge where half the thinking is done for you? So here is Julee's Mojo Monday Challenge # 67. I always find I have a hard time coming up with ways to add layers to my card without it looking all weird and wacked out. I love Julee's sketches and I know the card I came up with has a sentiment that's a touch small but I love it anyways. So the recipe: cardstock is SU (Chocolate chip, close to cocoa, pink pirouette, whisper white), the pattern paper are both from K&Company, SU markers, dimensionals, and the stamp is from SU as well (Pun Fun set).
Jamie actually got me a lighting studio that he found on sale at Office Depot. They're going out of business so he managed to pick it up for $40. Not too shabby. Comes with its own lighting and everything. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the best shots out of it. I don't know if you can tell with this card but hopefully the picture is better than all the ones I've posted in the past.
I also finally made a little Etsy shop which can be found HERE! So if you're reading this post, hopefully you've mustered up some creative juices and made a card for this challenge as well. Thanks for looking!

Christmas Baking

So it's begun... The mad rush to do all my Christmas baking. I took a 1/2 day off work so I could come home and get a head start on things... All I managed to get done is come home, cook lunch for Jamie and I and finish wrapping gifts. Then we had a double family dinner, got home around 9:45 and started baking around 10:15... So what did we accomplish so far?? Take a look!

We're planning to make a bunch of cookie tins for our neighbors and some close friends. We managed to finish some short bread cookies, the fudge is setting and I made some chocolate drizzled caramel popcorn. Not too too shabby for about 2 hours worth of work. So tomorrow I've gotta motor through and try making some Rocky Mountain Shortbread (got the recipe from a coworker), gingerbread men, oatmeal spice cookies and sugar cookies. PLUS finish making all my Christmas cards!! Oh my... I've got one loaded day tomorrow..

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and a fantastic New Year!!

KWerner Blog Color Inspiration #35

My oh my it's late and I just spent the last 1.5 hours trying to make a card for Kristina's color challenge. The colors chosen are beautiful and go wonderfully together but I had SUCH a hard time fitting in the So Saffron. I toyed with different colored ribbons and stamp sets and buttons. Now I gotta say this, as ridiculously easy as "sponging on color" sounds... I cannot, for the life of me, sponge. I try and try and I always just get this goopy mess and end up having to scrap the thing. What am I doing wrong? I tried using the SU sponges, those big huge ones that you can cut into quarters. I've also tried sponge daubers. Both has gotten me the same ghastly results. Perhaps it's the hand holding the sponge that's the problem huh?

So this is what I ended up with.. Not a lot considering the amount of time I fiddled with it. So back to the sponging. I was originally going to have the main card as Very Vanilla with some Chocolate Chip sponged onto the outside.. Nope... Showed Jamie and he agreed it should be a no go. Anyways.. Here's the recipe: You can't tell but I saw someone (I don't remember who, I'm sorry) do a shadow effect with the Upsy Daisy stamp set and I tried except Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip were just a tad too close in color. In hindsight, I probably should've tried to make a shadow with the So Saffron instead of the Close to Cocoa. Oh well... The ribbon is actually very vanilla that I mashed into my Baja Breeze inkpad and then heatgunned dry. Why I didn't use the reinkers... Well I'm lazy and it would've been more cleanup. Now tip for anyone who decides to try and heatgun dry their wet ribbon. It was the first time I saw a faint white smoke fill my room... So be careful!!! Could possibly spontaneously ignite without us even realizing what's going on! (Hence, leaving us no time to save anything in our craft room) The butterfly is from the Essence of Love set and the sentiment is from Pocket Silhouettes. This card is actually for my coworker Robyn who hosted a LOVELY Christmas party for all us nurses at the office last Friday.

Now just wanted to post 2 more quick pics. One is a Christmas card I received from my upline Carolyn. It's absolutely gorgeous and I had to share. The second is just a cute picture of Khuno (my puppy) that we took a week or so ago. Enjoy!!

Mojo Monday Week 65

So this is the first time I've participated in a Mojo Monday challenge. You can find this challenge at Poetic Artistry . So the layout challenge for week 65 looks like this...(-------> to the right)

I had a bit of a tough time as I always do. Had to pull out all the stamps to see what I had to work with. So I ended up looking through my patterned paper from K&Company (purchased in bulk as Costco) and chose a beautiful bright pinky red. The stamp sets are from SU: Essence of Love and Warm Words. Accessories are also SU: Markers, 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Hope you guys like it. I know it's not exactly as the sketch looks but a bow at the top of the stamp just looked funny!

Isn't it funny how we always procrastinate. I put everything off till last minute but it seems like I'm still always busy!! I haven't started making my Christmas cards yet and I'm starting to panic a bit because Christmas is only NINE DAYS AWAY!!! But here I am making cards that are totally not related. I guess I could've fooled myself and stamped a Christmas sentiment on this card... Oh well. There's still 9 more days before I'm really screwed. Goodnight and thanks for looking!

CPS 95 Attempt.... Failed...

I've had a hard time making the time to just sit down and make cards, especially with the holiday season and all the busy things that come with it. So I've found this awesome site, Snappy Stampin' With Arielle that posts card challenges for every single day of the week!! So it's been added to my favorites and hopefully it'll push me to make more cards.

So I poked around Arielle's site and looked up what was for Sunday and found Card Positioning Systems . Check out the site for tons of different layouts. You can click on a link for previous challenges and see loads of fun layouts for inspiration. So I looked at the CPS 95 and attempted to make some sort of card for it but I ended up with... something that doesn't look anything like the challenge template!

I have a hard time getting those eyelets place in exactly the same spot on all corners. If anyone has any tips for me, leave me a note!

Now to end off, I just wanted to thank my friend Jinnee for making me this beautiful Christmas card.

New website!

So I've been using wordpress as my main blog which can be found HERE I've decided that having Snadypooh as my main blog title might be a bit confusing for people so while surfing Google and seeing so many blogs with blogger, I made a new blog. Jamie helped me come up with a new title and I love it. So now I'm trying to figure out how to navigate through this site and get familiar with posting, the gadgets on here etc. Once I've got that figured out (sort of), I've got a ton of Christmas cards I need to make. Later gators!
