Fall To Layout #82 & SPCC #38

Well I've tried to be productive on my day off before having to work this weekend but I haven't accomplished very much at all! I set my alarm to wake up at 8 AM and of course I managed to snooze and wake up at 10:30. Why do I do that to myself? Instead of just setting my alarm for a decent time to wake up, I always set it waaaay too early and end up like today. Having 5 minute snoozes from 8-10:30!!! I think somewhere in my zombie sleeping state, I reset the alarm for 9, turned it completely off at 10 and finally woke up at 10:30. I'm really hoping to get a few challenges completed before the weekend because I've got a load of things on my to-do list and it doesn't help that I work the entire weekend and I lose an hour! Here's my take on this week's Clean & Simple Fall to Layout #82 and SPCC #38. I loved the sample card for the Fall to Layout challenge. It's a great example of less is WAY more. I'm going to gun for another card before I need to walk the dog, get dinner ready, shower.. You know, the other essentials other than stamping!

Color Throwdown #82 & Fall To Layout # 81

Another lazy Sunday for me today! I ended up sleeping in till 12:30! It was fantastic. I only woke up because Jamie woke me up. I've been trying to clear out a bunch of the random scraps I have laying on my table. I don't have a great system to store DSP scraps so they just end up sitting on my desk. I also have a bunch of card stock that's been cut that I "file" on my desk. A few nights ago I was hoping to participate in this week's Color Queen challenge, so I cut up 2 cards and decided to bling them up with some shimmer mist I made. The first card I used Platinum shimmer paint and the next card I used Frost White shimmer paint. So the first card picture is my take on Clean & Simple's Fall to Layout #81 and Color Throwdown challenge #82. I was in such a mindset to use up the two scraps of Night of Navy that I used that instead of Not Quite Navy. And I don't have any DSP in Ruby Red so I cheated yet again and used Real Red DSP. Hopefully I don't get my hand slapped!

Here's what I did with the other half of my Night of Navy card stock with the Platinum shimmer mist. You  might not be able to see it but I got to use my Liquid Pearls again! This time I figured out what went wrong with the last time I used it. When it comes out, it sort of looks like a pile of poop or ice cream swirl so you're supposed to tap the paper to round it out. Being totally foolish I tapped it upside down and wondered why the heck it wasn't working. Well that only made it MORE poop/ice cream swirl like. You're supposed to hit it from the BOTTOM of the paper! So this time worked out better. Have a great Sunday!

SFYTT & cQc #19

Ok I really need to make this post fast because my 1/2 marathon run starts in exactly T minus 9 hours!!! I gotta get into bed and get myself a decent night sleep. I really hope tomorrow goes ok. I shouldn't be nervous because it's the same route that we've ran for the last 2 months. At the same time though, I've never EVER in my entire life ran 21km before... And to top it all off, I've been feeling sickish all day. Belly aches and upset stomach. Upset almost to the point where I feel nauseas. Lets hope I'm not coming down with something and if I am, please let me get through tomorrow. Here's my take on this week's Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) and Color Queen Challenge (cQc).

Mojo 123 & SPCC 32 & Soy Milk Comparison!

Well I've gotta hustle with this post, gotta leave for work in like 15 minutes. I've been so busy lately and can't believe it's already Thursday!! Here's my quick (HA! quick...) take on this week's Mojo Monday and SPCC challenge. I know the little strip of creamy caramel is falling off but I didn't notice until after I took the picture and I just don't have time to fix it right now!! But I'll be sure to fix it before I give the card away!

On a side note (even though I'm totally running late!), I've been trying out a few different soy milks lately because my lactose sensitivity has been destroying my gut lately. The first one I tried was Silk. I got the green box Organic No Sugar Added. It was absolutely DELISH! Ridiculously creamy for a soy milk and even without the added sugar, it was sweet enough for me. Tasted like a semi-sweet milkshake. The second one I tried was So Good with no sugar added. Boy that was NOT my favorite. It was grainy feeling in my mouth and it was OH SO SWEET. I couldn't believe it didn't have added sugar!! And I kept asking Jamie, how in the world is it soooo sweet?? It tasted as if they used candied soy beans to make it! Bleh! The latest one I've tried and by far my favorite is the So Nice unsweetened. It tasted exactly the way I wanted it to (as a substitute for milk!). It was light and when drunk in a big gulp out of the fridge, gave me a quenching feeling with just the slightest hint of sweetness. I'm sold on So Nice!! Anyways gotta run off to work now!! Have a great day everyone!

Gotta post the card ingredients later!!

Mojo 122 & SPCC 31

Well it's my day off after a horrifically busy weekend at work. It's amazing how babies comes in mega waves. Had many many moms to visit and a lot of heels to poke!! I'm just glad I got today off but booo I'm right back to the grind tomorrow and I know there's already another 2 moms to visit. Anyways Heidi at work just had a baby (9lbs 2oz!!!) and another lady at work wanted some thank you cards. So once again I'm trying to be efficient and not only make 2 cards at one time but combine 2 challenges! Here's my take on Mojo Monday #122 and SPCC #31. I'm very very excited that my friend Penny has started to participate in card challenges. I've been trying to get my fellow card making friends to join me in the blogging world and Penny finally did!! Hip hip hooray for Penny (and baby Annika for giving her time to do so!). Now don't look too closely at the ovals because I cut the watercolor paper oval out with my Coluzzle but the Apricot Appeal oval was eye-balled and trimmed by hand.

Card Ingredients
All items Stampin’ Up unless indicated.

Stamps: Fresh Cuts, Echoes of Kindness, Bundled in Love
Ink: Real Red, Pretty In Pink, Old Olive
Paper: 6x6 DSP in Real Red and Pretty in Pink, Apricot Appeal, Real Red, watercolor paper
Embellishments: Apricot Appeal 1/4" grosgrain ribbon

Mojo 121 & ColorQ 15

Boy it's been so nice having the last two days off to do some laundry and make some cards! I've even started to organize my stamp area a bit (... a really small bit!!). I love combining challenges as you may or may not know so here's a card with Mojo Monday 121's layout and ColorQ #15's colors. You can't really see the colors of the background but I stamped Belle Toile in Versamark and cotton swabbed on some Certainly Celery and Barely Banana pastels. The big 'F' was also stamped in craft Pumpkin Pie and embossed some clear powder.
Now a little story that has nothing to do with cards. Yesterday Jamie and I were eating supper and he swallowed a little too fast. He ended up choking a bit and snorted some food up the wrong tube! So he blows his nose and he blew out a HUGE HUGE HUGE piece of lettuce!! It was probably like 2" long and 1/4" wide. It was sick sick sick but oh so funny at the same time!! I've never blown any food THAT big outta my nose before. All he had to say after he looked into his tissue was "Man that felt weird."

Card Ingredients
All items Stampin’ Up unless indicated.

Stamps: Belle Toile, Vintage Vogue, Whimsical Words
Ink: Versamark, Pumpkin Pie craft ink, Basic Gray
Paper: Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Barely Banana, Certainly Celery, Vellum
Embellishments: Ribbon (bought at Michael's), rhinestones (Kaiser Scrapbook), embossing powder
Tools: Heat gun, Stampin' pastels, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches, corner rounder,  Stampin' dimensionals

Mojo 117 & SPCC 28

Well I'm trying to get back into the card challenges and man, you'd never tell by the final product but it took me an hour to finish this card!! I kept humming and haaing about what I wanted to do. And let me tell you, it's really frustrating when all I've got is a Coluzzle to cut circles with. I really need to get something to cut circles and scalloped circles of various sizes. I'm debating on the SU glass circle cutter or investing in some Nestabilities. And I think I need to invest in some Nestabilities for the scalloped circles because I scalloped that circle by hand with a corner rounder! Any suggestions on what you like/have?? Anyways I've combined this week's Mojo Monday and SPCC color challenge. Off to walk the dog now!

Mojo 116

Well I finally managed to take part in a challenge. The last one was in... May!?!?!? As you can tell, I'm still a bit rusty. Here's my attempt at Mojo Monday 116.

Mojo 112 & Color Throwdown 68

Wow. Can you believe I haven't participated in a card challenge since MAY!?!?!? I know.. I'm a little shocked myself!!! Of course I'm back to my old habits of posting late at night. This will be a short post since I have to work tomorrow. I combined mojo monday and color throwdown (some of my old time favorites!) This card was made for my friends Annette and John's housewarming party tonight.

365 Cards Day 61 & CP Sketch 12

I'm on a roll for doubling up challenges. I really hope that the challenges I'm doubling up on aren't mad at me for doing so. I don't know if there's a faux pau thing about combining challenges or not. I did go by one challenge blog and it specifically requested that cardmakers did NOT combine challenges and that kinda turned me off at bit so needless to say, I didn't add them to my favorites. Anyways today's doubling includes 365 Cards "Leaf it up to me" challenge to include a leaf or two on my card and Card Patterns Sketch 12. Now I started off trying to use scalloped circles but then realized after I cut up all my base that the scalloped circles are too big!!! I wonder if anyone else had the same problem... Or maybe they just have more supplies can were able to make smaller scalloped circles! Anyways I changed them over to squares and for some reason I had a scalloped edge strip in my mind when I kept looking back at the sketch. It was never there but in my mind, it totally was!! All the scalloped-ness is throwing me off my game! Anyways, the stamp set that includes some leafy-ness is Pocket Silouettes and the sentiment on the front is from Happiness Always. Both sets are from Stampin' Up. The inside sentiment is from Hero Arts. Hope you enjoy!

365 Cards Day 58 & Mojo Monday 84

So another late post for me tonite. It's been a busy day and I'm very very tired. So here's a short post. Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to put at least one fishy image on your card. I combined it with Mojo Monday's sketch 84. The stamp set is from There She Goes called LOL Taglines (I think...) and the fish is from SU's retired Very Punny. Enjoy and g'nite!!
